10 Beautycounter Products for People Who Don't Wear Makeup

I love makeup. I was the girl who signed up for private classes and special events at the Nordstrom beauty counters. I was the girl who always got the new colors every season. I was the girl who when asked what products I wanted to purchase after a makeover would sheepishly respond with, "All of them."

While my love of makeup has not waivered, today I use significantly less of it.

I've been working from home for almost five years now. So these days, I don't have a need to wear makeup on a daily basis - and I don't. But that doesn't mean I don't use beauty products on a daily basis. I still have a regimented skin care routine that I follow daily, which is why I love Beautycounter. While their cosmetics line continues to expand, with new pieces added on a regular basis, their skincare line remains top notch with high-performing products.

So if you're like me, and you don't wear cosmetics on a regular basis, here's a list of my favorite Beautycounter skincare products that I use daily:

1 | Charcoal Cleansing Bar

The Charcoal Cleansing Bar is my signature product. It's the product that brought me to Beautycounter, and it's now the only cleanser that I use on my face. The charcoal bar removes impurities, with drying out my skin, and leaves my face feeling so clean! And it's long-lasting; it's been six months since I started using my first bar and I can probably get another month out of it!

2 | Purifying Charcoal Mask

The "sister" to the charcoal bar, the mask is equally impressive! I use it weekly, and also as a spot treatment if a zit appears. It leaves my face feeling soft and supple and my acne-prone skin, less inflamed.

Tip: Apply with a foundation brush.

3 | Balancing Face Oil

"Why would someone like me, who has oily acne-prone skin put oil on it?" I asked my cousin when she returned home after teaching English in China for a few years. "I dunno" she replied, "But it's what all the ladies in China do, and they have amazing skin."

So I tried it. And I loved it.

You know how everyone used to think eating fat made you fat? (Spoiler: it doesn't), well, using oils on your face doesn't make your skin oilier.

After my cousin had given me that tip from China, I put Rose Hip oil on after I washed my face before bed. It turns out, it's a great moisturizer, and because it's oil, it isn't full of ingredients that you can't pronounce.

I love the Balancing Facial Oil because moisturizes and hydrates my combination skin. In case you're wondering, my first bottle lasted me six months.

4 + 5 | Daily Shampoo + Daily Conditioner

I always pick my shampoo and conditioner based on how it smells. I'd read ingredient labels and always saw "fragrance" but never really knew what it was. Through Beautycounter, I learned that "fragrance" is usually made of harmful chemicals, and manufacturers are not legally required to disclose what those exact ingredients are.

So I was happy to see that they had a shampoo and conditioner in their product line! And these products were among the first ones I started using! Because a variety of oils is among the ingredients, they are both moisturizing.

6 | Citrus Mimosa Bar

I use this bar of soap to shower with daily. It smells soooo nice, and unlike other brands, it receives its scent from oils, not "fragrances."

7 | Baby Daily Protective Balm

This shea butter + jojoba oil-based balm is gentle enough for a baby's skin, but I use it to moisturize my dry skin, especially my cracked heels. Being a balm, it's pretty thick, so just a little goes a long way!

8 | Style Sea Salt Spray

I rarely use hair styling products because I find they dry out my hair. But sometimes I need a little hold. I've used (and liked) other sea sprays and Beautycounter's is no different. It provides texture and enough hold without making my hair feel "crunchy."

9 | CounterSun

Confession: I'm not a huge sunscreen person. I have never been (even during all my years of outdoor running). I fully understand the dangers of skin cancer, but I just hated how greasy sunscreen felt. This sunscreen is not like that. It feels very light, doesn't leave greasy and white streaks.

10 | Lip Conditioner

This lip conditioner works just as well as any other lip balm but also has avocado oil, of which I am a huge fan. It also has a subtle cool flavor.

And there you have it! My ten favorite Beautycounter products that I use daily, that aren't makeup.
