Episode 004: Mercury Toxicity and Biologic and Integrative Dentistry with Dr. Helen Alderson

In this episode, I’m joined by Dr. Helen Alderson.

Dr. Alderson is a dentist and a naturopath. She’s originally from Las Vegas and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1987 for dental school.

Once out in the real world of dentistry, she discovered that many of the traditional paradigms of dental philosophies, treatments, and even anatomy were not necessarily accurate and often detractive to the general well being and health of individual and their teeth.

So she continued her education and became a doctor of naturopathic medicine.

Dr. Alderson is my personal dentist. Whenever I have a check-up, I have the best conversations with her about holistic approaches to dentistry and dental health.

And it just so happened that shortly before my last visit with her, I received lab test results that indicated extremely high levels of lead and mercury. So during that last visit that we started talking about mercury and dental health, and she generously agreed to come on the show to continue the conversation and share more of her expertise on this topic.

We discuss:

  • What led her to pursue naturopathic medicine in addition to being a dentist

  • How she deals with constant exposure to mercury

  • What kinds of approaches she takes to get rid of mercury in herself and her family, and why.

  • And a whole lot more!
